Outdoor fitness training for optimum health.

Outdoor fitness training. Warmer weather is upon us and it's time to dig up those sneakers, especially if you have not been hitting the gym over the winter. Here are our top tips on how to get re-integrated to training outdoors.1. Do a little preparation work. Assess your gear to be sure your shoes, clothing and equipment are all ready for action.2. Don't go too long or too fast your first week! Whether your walking, biking or running you want to work back up to the longer distances over uneven terrain. This will allow you to see where your body stands in terms of conditioning.3. Recruit a buddy. Having someone to hold you accountable to making your training days will yield better results- and that you get back home!4. Train, don't just exercise! As we all age, staying young in body and spirit takes a plan. People who exercise a lot often do the same movements and tempo, over and over again, for way too long. Having a "training" mindset builds your program in intensity, volume and other training variables sequentially over time. With a plan, you'll also change your program more often, which gets better results and keeps your joints healthier.5. Fuel up properly! Always consider the energy needs for your next outside expedition. Be sure to bring a little more fuel than you think you need because the opportunity to share it with a fellow exerciser may present itself.6. Always be mindful and safe. I love music as much as anyone else, but you need to be extremely aware of your running, biking, climbing and even walking terrain. Be aware of your surroundings and have fun! These little tips are simple, but if you use them with intention and a little pre-planning, you will have a much more enjoyable outside training experience.Daniel Lucas is one of the co-founders of Nimble Fitness, a premier health and wellness company located in New York City, which has been in business for over nine years. Turn That Frown Upside Down

Turn That Frown Upside Down Want to be happy? Just smile. Believe it or not, forcing yourself to smile can actually make you happier. Paul Ekman, PhD, a psychologistwho is an expert in facial expressions, taught himself to arrange the muscles in his face to make certain expressions. To his surprise, he found himself feeling the emotions that he was mimicking. When he raised his cheeks, parted his lips, and turned the corners of his mouthup, he felt happier. Ekman and his research partner went on to do a study of college students to see if they, too, would feel happier by making themselves smile. The researchers measured the students’ brainactivity while the students followed instructions to smile using the muscles in their cheeks and around their mouths. Whether the students smiled spontaneously or on purpose, the activity in their brains was virtually the same. They felt happy. Smile Anxiety Chipped or missing teeth, fillings, or discolored teethare unveiled when your lips part to smile -- so some people simply avoid it. If you find yourself wanting to cover up your smile, you could be holding yourself back in more ways than you realize. "Life is much more challenging for people who are so self-conscious about their teeththey don’t want to smile," McClain says. Make a date with your dentist to talk about your concerns and potential corrections. Many dental problems can be fixed. One of McClain’s patients with excess gum tissue was ashamed of her short-looking teeth. "We did a procedure called crown lengthening, and it was amazing what a difference it made,” McClain says. “She was so much more self-confident. Source webMD

What Does Your Smile Say About You? By Joanne Barker Reviewed by Alfred D.of webMD.

What Does Your Smile Say About You? By Joanne Barker Reviewed by Alfred D.of webMD. Want to succeed in business, fill up your social calendar, and get more romanceinto your life? One secret may be in your smile. Your smile -- simple, straightforward, and most important, sincere -- can attract more than admiring looks. A smiling face tells people that you’re an outgoing and intelligent person worth getting to know. "When someone has a big smile, it shows they’re willing to open up and expose a part of themselves," says Pamela McClain, DDS, a past president of the American Academy of Periodontology. Over the long term, smiling can benefit your health, perception at work, social life, and romantic status. With that much at stake, it's worthwhile to discover what your smile is saying about you -- and how to interpret the smiles flashed your way. Smiling Eyes Aren't Just for the Irish Many Americans look at the mouthto judge a person’s mood, but people smile for all sorts of reasons: anger, fear, embarrassment, confusion, to deceive. It’s really your eyesthat give you away. The muscles around the eyescan’t be forced to look happy. When people smile for real, their cheeks rise and the skinaround their eyesbunches up. In fact, in certain countries where suppressing emotion is a cultural norm, people look more at each other’s eyes to gauge emotion. A Smile Makes You Look Successful "A smile conveys confidence and professionalism," says Lily T. Garcia, DDS, a past president of the American College of Prosthodontists. People who project a positive outlook are generally more open and flexible. They tend to cope better with challenges than people who are withdrawn and unsmiling. A study that followed a group of women for 30 years shows the lifetime benefits of smiling. The women who displayed genuinely happy smiles in their college yearbook photos went on to have happier marriages and greater well-being. In the same study, a group of strangers looked at the college photos and reported their assumptions about the women’s personalities. The women who smiled were judged to be more positive and competent than those who didn’t.

I inherited empty treasury, huge debts -Buhari

I inherited empty treasury, huge debts -Buhari President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said he inherited a country with virtually empty treasury from his predecessor, former President Goodluck Jonathan. He said the country bequeathed him was also being weighed down by debts running into millions of dollars. Buhari spoke during a meeting he had with State House correspondents to mark his first day in his office. The President relocated to the Presidential Villa on Sunday evening barely three weeks after he was inaugurated. He had been operating from his private residence and the Defence House, the official residence of the President-elect. Buhari said it was disgraceful for state and federal workers not to be paid their salaries. He told the journalists that he would need their help on the bad management the nation had found itself so that they can protect him from the people before they would march on him. He said the culture of assessing government’s performance in the first 100 days in office was putting pressure on him considering the effects of the mismanagement he inherited. Buhari said, “This culture of 100 days (in office) is bringing so much pressure with treasury virtually empty, with debts in millions of dollars, with state workers and even federal workers not being paid their salaries. “This is such a disgrace for Nigeria. “I think Nigeria should be in a position to at least pay its workers. “This bad management that we find ourselves in, we really need your help to protect us from people before they march on us.” Buhari said it was not by accident that he appointed one of the best journalists in the country, Mr. Femi Adesina, as his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity. He said he brought Adesina so that he could consistently defend him against his co-journalists. He said whether his job would be easy or not would depend on the presidential spokesman. The President expressed the hope that what happened recently under former President Goodluck Jonathan when a State House correspondent was expelled would not happen under his watch. Buhari was accompanied to the parley by Adesina and his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu. SOURCE. Punch news

Is This Person Right for Me?

Is This Person Right for Me? Have you found someone who might be a good marriage partner? If so, how can you tell if that person is right for you? It’s vital that you look beyond superficial traits. After all, the cutest girl may not be trustworthy or the most popular boy may not be morally upright. You want someone you’ll be comfortable with—someone who truly fits your personality and your goals.— Genesis 2:18; Matthew 19: 4-6. Looking Beyond the Surface Look at your friend objectively. Be careful, though! You might be inclined to see only what youwantto see. So take your time. Try to perceive your friend’s true nature. Many who date don’t look beyond the surface. Instead, they quickly point to the things they have in common: “We like the same music.” “We enjoy the same activities.” “We agree oneverything!”However, you need to look beyond superficial traits. You need to discern “the secret person of the heart.” ( 1 Peter 3:4; Ephesians 3:16) Rather than focus on how much youagreeon things, it might be more revealing to note what happens when youdisagree. For example, consider the following: *. How does this person handle conflict—by insisting on his or her way, perhaps giving in to “fits of anger” or “abusive speech”? ( Galatian s 5: 19, 20; Colossia ns 3:8) Or does this person show reasonableness—a willingness to yield for the sake of peace when no issue of right or wrong is at stake?— James 3:17. *. Is the person manipulative, possessive, or jealous? Does he or she demand to know your every move? “I hear of dating couples who fight because one person can’t stand that the other hasn’t constantly ‘checked in,’ ” says Nicole. “I think that’s a bad sign.”— 1 Corinthi ans 13:4. *. How is that one viewed by others? You may want to talk to those who have known this person for some time, such as mature ones. That way you will know if he or she is “well reported on.” Source.Question Young people ask. Answer that work pub by www.jw.org

I’m Attracted to the Same Sex—Does That Mean I’m Gay?

I’m Attracted to the Same Sex—Does That Mean I’m Gay? Not at all! Fact: In many cases, same-sex attraction is nothing more than a passing phase. That’s what Lisette, 16, who was at one time attracted to a girl, found. She says: “Through my biology classes in school, I learned that during the adolescent years, hormone levels can fluctuate greatly. I truly think that if more youths knew more about their bodies, they would understand that same-sex attraction can be temporary and they wouldn’t feel the pressure to be gay.” All youths face a choice—either to adopt the world’s degraded view of sexuality or to follow the high moral path set forth in God’s Word But what if your attraction to the same sex seems to be more than a passing phase? Is it cruel of God to tell someone who is attracted to the same sex to avoid homosexuality? If you answered yes to that last question, you should know that such reasoning is based on the flawed notion that humans must act on their sexual impulses. The Bible dignifies humans by assuring them that they can choose not to act on their improper sexual urges.— Colossian s 3:5. The Bible’s stand is not unreasonable. It simply directs those with homosexual urges to do the same thing that is required of those with an opposite-sex attraction—to “flee from fornication.” ( 1 Corinthian s 6:18) The fact is, millions of heterosexuals who wish to conform to the Bible’s standards employ self-control despite any temptations they might face. Those with homosexual inclinations can do the same if they truly want to please God.— Source Question young people ask, Answer that work. Pub by jw.org

What if I’m Addicted to Pornography?

What if I’m Addicted to Pornography? What you can do Understand pornography for what it is.Pornography is nothing less than an attempt to degrade something that God created to be honorable. Understanding pornography in this light will help you to “hate what is bad.”— Psalm 97:10. Consider the consequences.Pornography devalues those depicted in it. It also debases the person who views it. For good reason, the Bible says: “Shrewd is the one that has seen the calamity and proceeds to conceal himself.”— Proverbs 22:3. Make a commitment.“I have made a solemn promise never to look with lust at a girl,” said the faithful man Job. ( Job 31:1,Today’s English Version) The following are some ‘solemn promises’ you could make: *. I will not use the Internet when I am alone. *. I will immediately exit from any pop-up or site that is explicit. *. I will talk to a mature friend if I have a relapse. Pornography has a cumulative effect—the more times you view it, the harder it is to break free Pray about it.The psalmist implored Jehovah God: “Make my eyes pass on from seeing what is worthless.” ( Psalm 119:37) God wants you to succeed, and if you prayto him he can give you the strength to do what is right!— Philippian s 4:13. Talk to someone.Choosing a confidant is often an important step in breaking the habit.— Proverbs 17:17. Remember this:Each time you avoid pornography, you have won a significant victory.
